Desc Walk across farmers leased DOC land along 4wd , descend to Hodder River (keep eye out for the sign that shows track that descends to river its not a doc sign ) take 80 crossings until Hodder Huts. Climb Tapi. There are cairns to follow but take gpx. Hillary took the Tongue spur when he climbed Tapy plus it was in winter solo.
